Suspects arrested with consignment of drugs during operation Lockdown II

WESTERN CAPE – The commitment of members attached to Lockdown II led to the arrest of two suspects in Langa this afternoon during the execution of Operation Restore.

The police members were focussed on their mission, when they received a tip off of drugs being stored at an identified address. Once the information was operationalised, the convoy proceeded to an address in Zone 2 in Langa. Upon arrival, the members searched the premises and confiscated a consignment of Mandrax tablets and three live rounds of ammunition.

Two males, aged 58 and 37, were arrested and detained. Once charged, both suspects are expected to make a court appearance in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate court on charges of Illegal possession of ammunition and dealing in drugs.

The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape police, Lt Gen TE Patekile praised the arresting officers for their contribution to tackle the seemingly lucrative trade in drugs in this province, considering now that the festive season is upon us.
