The members reacted on information of drugs at a residence in Welwitchia Street and conducted a search operation. This led to the discovery of an assortment of dagga products and cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime.
During the early hours of this morning In Manenberg, neighbourhood watch members confronted two suspects in Welcome Estate who were found under suspicious circumstances. They were searched and found in possession of an unlicensed firearm. The two men aged 18 and 21 were handed over to police and detained. Further investigation revealed that the firearm was stolen in Goodwood during 2016. Partnership policing is an integral part of our approach to root out crime and we wish to express our appreciation towards the men and women who offer their services to ensure safer neighbourhoods for the community.
Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their court appearances in Athlone and Blue Downs respectively.
In an unrelated police intervention dubbed Operation Vuthu Hawe our detectives were hard at work during the past week to trace wanted suspects on a variety of charges. A total of 581 suspects who were sought for serious offences such as murder, attempted murder, robbery, burglary and sexual offences, to name but a few were arrested and brought to book.
