Suspects arrested for possession of suspected stolen property

Bronville: Two suspects aged 29 and 38 were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property in two separate operations on Thursday 18 November 2021.

 

Police received information about a 29-year-old suspect involved in a burglary and transportation of stolen property. An intelligence driven operation was conducted and resulted in a suspect been arrested.

 

A 43 inch Hi Sense plasma TV, speaker, clothing, medication, 16 pairs of sneakers and VW Golf 1 valued at R90 000 were confiscated. Further investigation by members of Welkom Vehicle Identification Section and Safeguarding (VISS) revealed that the VIN number and engine number of the Golf was tampered with.

 

In another separate incident an intelligence operation was conducted after police received information about a 38-year-old suspect who was in possession of stolen property.

 

The suspect was arrested and the 54 inch Sansui plasma TV, Meccer lap top and Samsung cellphone all valued at R15 000 were confiscated.

 

The two suspects will appear in Welkom Magistrates’ Court on the 22 November 2021.

 

The District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Maj Gen Lerato Molale applauded this joint venture of Crime Intelligence and Provincial Task Team by ensuring that suspects were arrested with suspected stolen items.
