A joint waylay operation was held along the R70 Ventersburg/Senekal road by SAPS members from Ventersburg, Hennenman and Virginia when police members received information about a stock theft incident on a farm in the Senekal district.
The information was operationalised on 08 August 2024 at about 03:00 and two vehicles were stopped: a silver Audi with GP number plates and a red Volkswagen Polo with FS number plates. The vehicles were searched and members found knives and one slaughtered cow inside two vehicles.
A total of seven suspects were arrested and a preliminary investigation took the team to an abandoned farm house, which is 10 km from Senekal towards Paul Roux. The slaughtered remains of a cow were found with nine other cows that were still alive by members of the Stock Theft Unit.
The suspects will appear today in the Ventersburg Magistrate’s Court. The Odendaalsrus Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit is investigating the case.
