Suspect with alleged multiple offences brought to book

NELSPRUIT – A 35-year-old Suspect with alleged multiple offences was arrested in Karino outside Nelspruit yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 18 October 2022 at about 12:00.

The suspect was allegedly found at a house with a vehicle, a silver grey Audi A3, which was reportedly stolen during a house robbery incident in Nelspruit in August this year.

Police continued searching his premises whereby a firearm, which was reportedly stolen in Hoedspruit (Limpopo Province) during the month of July this year. They proceeded with their search and found three live rounds of ammunition of a 7.65 pistol which were reportedly concealed inside a cupboard in the same house.

On further investigation, it was discovered that the recovered vehicle was allegedly used in a number of cases committed in and around Nelspruit. More suspected stolen goods including electrical appliances, wrist watches, bank cards and motor bikes helmets were also seized.

The suspect was arrested and charged for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, charges related to providing false information to the authorities and contravention of the Immigration Act.

Police cannot rule out the possibility of adding other charges as investigation progresses.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has welcomed the arrest and the recovery of the properties. The General further added that the arrest of the suspect will possibly assist in dealing with unresolved cases.
