Suspect to appear in court for possession of stolen copper cables

KWAZULU-NATAL – On Monday 21 February 2022, Hawks members from Newcastle Serious Organised Crime Investigation arrested a 32-year-old suspect for possession of copper cables suspected to be stolen.

It is alleged that members received information about a suspect who was in possession of copper cables at KwaMathukusa area in Newcastle. They proceeded to the said residence and a search was conducted. Upon searching, thirty-seven pieces of copper cables to the street value of approximately R2000-00 were found.

The suspect was placed under arrest and charged for possession of property suspected to be stolen. He is expected to appear in the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court today.
