Suspect to appear in court for murder and assault

POTCHEFSTROOM – A 38-year-old man is expected to appear in the Itsoseng Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 02 November 2022, for murder and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH). According to information received, the suspect was arrested on Tuesday, 01 November 2022, after he allegedly stabbed two men on Saturday, 29 October 2022. The suspect allegedly found the pair, aged 24 and 30, at a tuck shop at Zone 3, in Itsoseng and demanded money from them. An argument ensued after the pair allegedly refused to comply to the demand. 

The suspect then took out a knife and allegedly stabbed the men on their upper bodies and fled the scene. The victims were transported to a local hospital where the 24-year-old died on arrival. Consequent to the incident, members of the community spotted the suspect at his mother’s place at Zone 3 and alerted the police who acted swiftly and effected the arrest.  

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, applauded the community for working together with the police in making sure that the suspect was arrested.
