EASTERN CAPE – A 51-year-old suspect will appear in Gqeberha Magistrate’s court on 03 June 2022 for allegations of asset finance fraud after his arrest by Gqeberha Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team of the Hawks on 02 June 2022 in Parow, Western Cape.
It is alleged that on 06 September 2019, the suspect visited Auto Traders in Gqeberha to purchase an Audi A3 and a Ford Ranger LDV. He is reported to have submitted the necessary documentation needed for vehicle finance. The documentation is said to have been forwarded to Absa vehicle finance and his application was approved hence the delivery of the two vehicles by the dealership to the suspect.
The suspect is reported to have never honoured a single monthly instalment which led the bank to try and trace the suspect .The bank then established that he had submitted fraudulent documents which led to the loan approval of more than R468 000.
The matter was reported to Gqeberha Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team of the Hawks which led to the arrest of the suspect on 02 June 2022 in Parow Court Western Cape where he is said to have been attending to another fraudulent unrelated matter.
The suspect will make his first court appearance in Gqeberha Magistrate’s court on 03 June 2022.
