Western Cape SAPS management welcomes the judgement imposed on a suspect who robbed and assaulted two females in the Overberg during August 2019.
According to reports a suspect attacked and brutally assaulted a female in her house on 03 August 2019 by hitting her over her head with a torch. The victim sustained head injuries as a result of the attack and she was hospitalised.
In an unrelated matter a suspect assaulted and robbed an elderly female on 09 August 2019. During the scuffle he threw the victim to the ground, resulting in her sustaining injuries to her face for which she had to undergo reconstructive facial surgery.
After an intense investigation a suspect was arrested and detained on charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances. On Tuesday, 12 October 2021 the 23-year-old Sheldon Davids was sentenced to an effective 50 years behind bars in the Caledon Regional court.
The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lieutenant General Tembisile Patekile lauded the investigating officer for his commitment and dedication to ensure a safer community.
