BOTSHABELO – The Mangaung Metro Tactical Response Team in Selosesha received intelligence of suspect in possession of a firearm without a license on the N8 National Road near Botshabelo Bridge. The team acted on the intelligence and on arrival at the off-ramp of the Botshabelo Bridge spotted the man fitting the description received.
The members approached the suspect and asked for permission to search him. A Silver Norinco pistol with a magazine loaded with eight live rounds of ammunition was found in his possession. The serial number of the firearm was filed off and the suspect failed to produce a valid firearm license.
The 48-year-old male was then arrested and a case of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition opened at Botshabelo Police Station. The suspect will appear in Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 24 January 2022.
