KWAZULU-NATAL – Hawks members from Pietermaritzburg Serious Organised Crime Investigation working together with members of National Intervention Unit and Crime Intelligence arrested Clinton Gwamanda (29) for possession of unlicensed firearm at Snathing area in Pietermaritzburg.

Members received information about a suspect who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm and a joint operation was conducted in the early hours of this morning. They pounced at the said premises and a search was conducted. Upon searching the premises a shotgun with serial number filed off was found and six live rounds of ammunition were also seized.

He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged accordingly. The seized firearm will be sent for ballistic test to ascertain if it was used in the commission of any crime in the country.
