Cape Town: Vigilant members attached to Philippi SAPS arrested a 36-year-old male while on patrols in Hanover Park on Friday, 28 February 2025. The officers were engaged in routine crime prevention duties when they noticed an unidentified man attempting to avoid their police vehicle. Upon stopping and searching him in Solent Court, they discovered he was carrying a 9mm pistol without a serial number, along with six rounds of ammunition. Consequently, the man was arrested for possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

According to South African Police Service, the suspect is scheduled to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 03 March 2025, to face the charges related to the possession of the prohibited firearm and ammunition.
