Suspect due in court for two counts of murder

MPUMALANGA – A 42-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Barberton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 17 November 2021 for two counts of murder. This follows his arrest on Tuesday, 16 November 2021 by members of the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation based in Nelspruit, Provincial Tracking Team, Barberton Detective Services and Flying Squad.

 

The team followed an information about the whereabouts of a wanted suspect linked to the murder of an off-duty police officer, Sergeant Nkosinathi Lucky Ngwenya of Nelspruit police station and his friend, Jaftha Mnisi (35) at Zanni tarven in Barberton.

 

The incident was brought to the attention of the authorities. Upon arrival at the scene, SAPS members as well as paramedics discovered two lifeless bodies of males with multiple gunshot wounds.

 

A case with two counts of murder was opened and investigation linked the suspect with the case, hence the arrest.
