Yesterday afternoon members of the Harare Crime Prevention Unit were busy with patrols in Block 60 Kuyasa, in Khayelitsha when they received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in the area. The members attended to the complaint and when the suspects saw the police approaching, they sped off and a vehicle chase ensued. The suspects jumped out of the vehicle and the members arrested a 29 year old suspect who was found in possession of a 9mm Norinco pistol with ammunition.
In an unrelated matter members of the Provincial Extortion Task Team arrested four suspects in their thirties late last night for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition in Laingsville after they conducted a tracing operation in connection with a wanted suspect for housebreaking and theft.
Once charged the suspects will appear in Khayelitsha and St Helena Bay Magistrates courts respectively once they have been charged.
