KWAZULU-NATAL – On Monday 12 December 2022, Sphakamiso Sosibo (29) briefly appeared in the Umlazi Magistrate’s Court for murder of Constable Nkosinathi Ndlovu (40) who was a Durban Metro Police member.
It is alleged that Ndlovu was off duty when he was attacked by Sosibo and his accomplice at Glebelands Hostel, Umlazi in June this year. The suspects fired shots at him and robbed him of his service pistol. He was declared dead at the scene and his wife suffered gunshot wounds. She was taken to hospital for medical attention.
A case of murder was reported at Umlazi police station and the case docket was later transferred to the Hawks members from Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation. Sosibo was arrested by Phoenix Trio Crimes for unrelated murder which happened in Phoenix on 13 October 2022. He was found in possession of the firearm that was robbed from Constable Ndlovu.
Intensive investigation was conducted and he was charged with murder and robbery of Constable Ndlovu. He was remanded in custody and the case was postponed to 19 December 2022.
