NELSPRUIT – Suspected stolen properties worth about R250 000-00 were recovered in Badplaas on Monday, 21 November 2022 at about 16:00, following the arrest of a 28-year-old man suspected to be behind a string of burglaries in the Badplaas area.
According to the report, police in Badplaas received information from a reliable source about suspected stolen properties that were reportedly stolen from holiday houses at Vygeboom farm in Badplaas.
Upon receiving the information, police operationalised it, resulting in a breakthrough whereby a rifle safe, 12 live rounds of ammunition, two fridges, four TV sets, four sound systems and other suspected stolen properties were recovered.
The arrested suspect is expected to make his first court appearance at the Carolina Magistrate’s Court today, Thursday 23 November 2022 on charges of possession of suspected stolen properties with an additional charge possession of unlicensed ammunition. As part of the investigation, police are still tracking down the outstanding suspects also believed to be involved in the burglaries.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has gladly welcomed the arrest of the suspect as well as the recovery of the properties. The General further extended a sincere appreciation to all community members who continuously join hands with police in the fight against crime by providing valuable information.
