EASTERN CAPE – Swift response by Graaff-Reinet Operational Command Centre members led to the recovery of a suspected stolen vehicle and the arrest of a 39-year-old suspect.
It is alleged that on Friday 27 August 2021 at about 14.30, Graaff-Reinet Operational Command Centre members conducted patrols, stop and search and Vehicle Checkpoints in and around Graaff-Reinet, after they received information that a vehicle that had been stolen in Harare, Cape town and that this vehicle was possibly on route to Graaff-Reinet.
Soon after setting up the checkpoint opposite the taxi rank on the N9 road in Graaff-Reinet, the vehicle was stopped and the 39 year old driver was arrested.
The suspect is due to appear before the Graaff-Reinet Magistrates Court soon on charges of possession of suspected stolen vehicle.
