Suspect arrested with copper cables

The Queenstown based Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in a joint venture with Queenstown Crime Intelligence, Transnet, Isidingo Security, Red Guard Security and Queenstown Community Service Centre members arrested a 34-year-old suspect for possession of suspected stolen property and damage to essential infrastructure on 06 October 2021.

 

It is alleged that on the 06 October 2021 at about 03:00, information was received about a Toyota Hilux that was on the way to Queenstown coming from Carthcart direction fully loaded with copper cables. The joint team responded swiftly and embarked on an intelligence driven operation where they stopped and searched the target vehicle near Queenstown’s Total garage. It is further reported that 19 rolls of Copper cables with a street value of R600 000-00 were recovered. A Toyota Double cab bakkie and two cellphones were confiscated during the arrest.

 

The suspect will appear in Queenstown Magistrate’s court on 07 October 2021.
