The vigilance by members of the Overberg Rural Flying Squad landed a 27 year old suspect behind bars for the possession of abalone on the N2 Highway in Grabouw this morning at about 05:55.
The members noticed a suspicious looking vehicle and decided to stop and search it, which resulted in the discovery of 14 plastic bags containing 1158 shucked abalone. The suspect was arrested and detained.
He will appear in the Grabouw Magistrate’s court on Wednesday 10 November 2021 on the mentioned charge.
