On 11 November 2021, the King Cetswayo task team successfully arrested a 52-year-old man for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

 

It is alleged that on 11 November 2021 at 01:00, police received information of a suspect who was in possession of a firearm at the Ntuthunga Reserve. Upon arrival at their homestead, police searched the residence and found a 9mm firearm and 15 rounds of ammunition. When the suspect was asked to produce his license he could not and he was arrested in the scene. The firearm and ammunition were seized for further investigation.

 

The suspect is expected to appear in the Kwambonambi Magistrate’s Court today for being in unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

 

In another incident, Zamokuhle Mkhwanazi (30) briefly appeared in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on 9 November 2021 for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. He was remanded in custody until 15 November 2021. It is alleged that on 7 November 2021, police in KwaMashu were patrolling in D Section when a man was startled upon seen the police vehicle.

 

Upon searching the man, police found a 9mm firearm as well as 3 rounds of ammunition and was placed under arrest. The suspect will be linked to another cases, as the investigation has revealed that he was being sought for a carjacking and attempted murder of police officers which occurred during the month of September 2021 at the corner of Musa and Malandela Road.
