Suspect arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition

Efforts to fight the spread of firearms and ammunition in the Western Cape have resulted in the arrest of a 42-year-old suspect and the recovery of a firearm in Buiten Cresent Scottsdene Kraaifontein. Police members were busy with patrols when they noticed a suspect on a bicycle and when he saw the police, he jumped off and ran. The members gave chase and arrested the suspect and found him in possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and tik.

 

In an unrelated matter members of the Anti-Gang Unit arrested a 28-year-old suspect for the possession drugs after they searched a premises in Ottery in the early hours of this morning. The consignment of drugs consisted of crystal meth (tik) and mandrax with an estimated street value of R100 000-00.

 

The same members also arrested a 35-year-old suspect for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. They received information about a firearm at an old building in Ottery. The premises was searched and the members found a 9mm pistol and ammunition.

 

The suspects are due to make court appearances in Blue Downs and Wynberg once they have been charged.
