Suspect arrested for illegal possession of firearms in Postmasburg

On 29 November 2021, Postmasburg Crime Prevention members followed up on information they received about a male person who is alleged to be in possession of illegal firearms.

 

The team led by Capt Neville Ruiter attended to information with a search warrant and found a male at the identified address in Marantheng in Postmasburg.

 

Two handguns were found hidden in a laundry bucket. One of the firearms found was reported stolen in the Eastern Cape in 2016.  The suspect was also found in possession of SANDF uniform.

 

The suspect was arrested for Unlawful possession of firearms and will soon appear in the Postmasburg Magistrates’ Court.

 

The police will continue to clamp down on the proliferation of firearms during the festive period.
