Suspect arrested for dealing in drugs in Goodwood

By participating in efforts to address the causes of crime, members attached to Goodwood Crime Prevention arrested a 32-year-old suspect in an intelligence driven operation on charges of dealing in drugs on Friday, 08 October 2021.

 

The members received information, operationalised it by conducting a search at a flat in Voortrekker Road, Goodwood. Members discovered a total of 3050 Mandrax tablets, bags of cocaine and tik in one of the bedrooms in the flat. The value of the drugs is yet to be determined. The suspect is due to appear in the GoodWood Magistrate court on Monday, 11 October 2021 to face the charges against him.

 

In an unrelated matter, during a successful crime intelligence operation, two suspects aged 32 and 52 was arrested for dealing in drugs in Vredendal on Friday morning. Members attached to Vredendal Crime Prevention Unit and K9 Unit Klawer, received information about drugs being stored at a premises. They immediately operationalised it and conducted a search at two premises in Vredendal.

 

A large amount of drugs was seized when K9 dog Bessie pointed out a liquor box containing mandrax at one of the addresses and at the other address a pink suit case with tik. The estimated street value of the drugs is R166 300-00.

 

The suspects are due to appear in the Vredendal Magistrate court on Monday, 11 October 2021 on the mentioned charges.

 

Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Thembisile Patekile has lauded the efforts of the members involved in the execution of these successful operations as police set their sights on serious crimes in the Province. “The abuse of illegal substances is one of the root causes of violent crime, and the members are lauded for their efforts to take drugs off our street”.
