NORTHERN CAPE – The relentless actions of Kathu Crime prevention members under the command of Sgt Ben Eiman to clamp down on crime yielded yet another success earlier this evening, 17 November 2021 at 19:30.
According to information, the members followed up a complaint from the bank manager of ABSA in Kathu of an ATM that was damaged last night at approximately 24:00, when an unknown male threw a brick at the screen, damaging the ATM. The damage to the ATM machine is estimated at R70 000-00.
The members viewed the CCTV footage and the suspect was positively identified by Sgt Ben Eiman.
The members went in search of the suspect and found him in Rietbok Street. The man was arrested and charged for malicious damage to property.
The 32-year-old male suspect will soon appear in the Kathu Magistrates court.
Police will continue unabatedly to clamp down on all criminal activities during this period.
