KWAMASHU - Police in KwaMashu have arrested a 23-year-old man today, for a business robbery, which was committed in the area. On Saturday 11 December 2021, at 12:00 three men entered a Spaza shop container, at Vilakazi road in F section. At gunpoint, the suspects ordered the shop assistant to lie down. They took an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes before fleeing the scene on foot.
Police were notified about the incident and they immediately launched a manhunt for the suspects, which yielded positive results with the arrest of one suspect Mphabo Chiyi (24) later that day and the arrest of the second suspect Sibongiseni Mthembu (28) the following day. Both suspects made their first court appearance on 14 January 2022 and the case has been postponed several times and were remanded in custody in Westville prison. They will appear again on 1 March 2022 joined by their co- accused.
