Suspect arrested following a house robbery and murder at a farm

BLOEMFONTEIN – A thorough investigation led to an arrest and seizure of stolen items. This follows a house robbery and murder at a farm. The farmer was reportedly strangled and items were stolen from the farm house.

 

On 20 February 2022, at about 11:00, the deceased, a woman, was found dead on her farm in Bultfontein. The incident was reported to the Police and a case of House Robbery and Murder was reported and a thorough investigation was conducted.

 

On 24 February 2022, at 12:00, Visible Policing Commander of Bultfontein, Captain BT Ramatsoele and his team proceeded to the farm and gathered information. The information led them to a shack at the Informal Settlement in Phahameng, the owner was approached and a request was made to conduct a search.

 

While members were searching, the following were found: four laptops (USBs), cellphone, laptop, 25 live rounds of rifle ammunition. A 29-year-old suspect resisted the arrest but members ensured that he was arrested.

 

The suspect is facing charges of house robbery, murder, and possession of suspected stolen items and resisting arrest. The suspect will appear on 28 February 2022 in Bultfontein Magistrate’s Court.

 

The District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Maj Gen Lerato Molale applauded the members under the leadership of Captain Ramatsoele who ensured that the suspect and stolen items were seized.
