Successful crime prevention activities in the Joe Gqabi District

LADY GREY – Members in the Joe Gqabi District continue to win the fight against drugs and made positive arrests.

Members from Lady Grey visible policing Sgt Mboniswa, Cst Mbuli, Cst Fikizolo and Cst Mteto were busy with crime prevention patrols when they received positive information of drugs that were allegedly sold at Khwezi Naledi Township.

The members swiftly followed up on the information and found a 61-year-old male at Khwezi Naledi Township with 12 mandrax tablets in different sizes in his house in a room and 13 sachets of Tik in his pocket.

The suspect was arrested and will appear tomorrow in the Lady Grey Magistrates’ court.

At Maclear station members from crime prevention also made positive arrests in two unrelated cases.

At about 15:20 they received positive information and found the suspect in his house in possession of 7 tik sachets in different sizes to the value of R580-00. The 32-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs.

At about 22:15 on 11 December 2021 the same day the members once again while busy with their crime prevention duties were alerted about two females that were dealing in dagga in a flat at the old train station.

On their arrival the flat was searched and five black refuge bags inside a maize meal sack filled with dagga was found. The dagga has a weight of 3,60 kg.

The two suspects age 18 and 22 years were arrested and will appear before the Maclear Magistrates’ court on 13 December 2021.

The acting District Commissioner Brig Rudolph Adolph commended the members on the arrests and confiscation. The positive impact of high visibility patrols together with the communities’ assistance to us as the SAPS made the success possible.

Thank you to the community that does not tolerate the drug dealers in our small towns in the rural areas. Daily we make a difference in our communities.
