JOE GQABI DISTRICT – SAPS members’ continued efforts to prevent, detect and eradicate the possession and dealing of drugs in the Joe Gqabi District yielded positive results in a successful combined operation through the efficient utilization of proactive and reactive intelligence.
Several suspects were apprehended in unrelated incidents in the rural towns of Ugie and Maclear by the members of the District OCC (operational command Centre), Barkley East Mounted Unit, Eliot and Aliwal North K9 and Crime Intelligence.
On Wednesday the 4 May 2022 the members started their operation at Ugie and arrested a male suspect age 43-years-old who was found in possession of 12 Boss mandrax tablets in different sizes and one full medium size transparent button bag of crystal meth with a street value of R1975-00.
The members then proceeded to Maclear where they followed up positive information and managed to apprehend a 22-year-old male suspect in possession of 7 transparent button bags of crystal meth and 3 clear small plastic bags of crystal meth and an amount of R17 569-00.
The crime prevention activities continued and the units conducted a stop and search during the activities they managed to arrest a 30-year-old male who was driving a Red Polo. Ten small transparent button bags of crystal meth were found under the car seat and a cash amount of R2 600-00.
The day was concluded when one male age 36-years-old was arrested in town. He was in possession of 13 transparent button bags of crystal meth and an amount of R630-00.
The acting District Commissioner Brig Rudolph Adolph applauded the members for their commitment and dedication and team work during the operation that made the successes possible. He encouraged them to continue with the good work.
