STERKSPRUIT – Eager to address serious and violent crimes that threaten the safety of the community a combined, an intelligence driven operation secured the following successes.
After the collection of positive information, the team including Crime Intelligence, the Sterkspruit Detectives, Aliwal North K9 and POP Unit along with the DOCC proceeded to the identified areas.
At New Rest, a 25-year-old suspect was arrested with 20 boss mandrax tablets to the value of R1200-00. In an empty outside room, 1 empty 7.65 mm magazine, one handcuff set and a replica gas gun was recovered.
A 47-year-old suspect was also arrested at the Zastron Road Mokhesi Sterkspruit with 140 boss mandrax tablets in his possession to the value of R8400-00. Cash was also confiscated.
As the team moved to Tienbank, to follow up information of a suspected drug dealer, a search of his house led to the recovery of 530 counterfeit R100 and R200 bank notes. It was found in a plastic bag that was hidden in the ceiling of a bedroom. The total value of the notes is R132 000-00.The 45-year-old suspect was arrested.
