Successful bilateral operation in the Joe Gqabi District

STERKSPRUIT – A very successful three day bilateral operation was held from the 13-15 December 2021 in the Sterkspruit and other parts of Joe Gqabi District.

The Commander was Lt Col Mtatase and the Operational commander was Capt Magobolo. The operation also included members from Visible Policing, POPS, Stock Theft unit, Detectives, Crime Intelligence and border police.

External stakeholders included the traffic department, SANDF and immigration.

Activities included high visibility patrols, stop and searches for drugs and dangerous weapons.

Roadblocks were held on the R392 – Herschel road the Zastron /Telle Junction and at the Palmietfontein Borderline.

Several successes were reached over this period:

4 suspects were arrested for business robbery, 1 for crimen injuria, contravention of a protection order and housebreaking and theft.

Fines to the value of R9500-00 were issued and more than 225 people and 55 vehicles were searched.

In the KatKop area during their bi-lateral operation 15 sheep suspected to be stolen were recovered at Magedla locality.

Members of the JGDOCC W/O Pharo and his team deployed at the KatKop area together with the KatKop detective D/Sgt Tshuta managed to trace a wanted suspect for murder that was outstanding since 2019. The 35-year-old suspect was apprehended at Emaladini locality.

The acting District Commissioner Brig Rudolph Adolph commended the members on the excellent work during the bi-lateral festive season operations.
