Stop and search operation leads to arrest of suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm

Concerted efforts to fight the scourge of gang violence in our communities led to the arrest of a 21-year-old suspect for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition in Beverley Lane, Atlantis, on Sunday, 3 October 2021. The Atlantis Crime Prevention Unit were busy with a stop and search operation when they searched the suspect and found him in possession of a 9mm pistol with ammunition.

 

In an unrelated matter Atlantis police executed a search warrant in Thorn Lane, Mamre, on Monday, 4 October 2021 and confiscated an imitation firearm with ammunition, a bullet proof vest, manufactured parts of a firearm and crystal meth (tik). A 28-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of possession of presumed stolen property and detained.

 

The suspects are due to make court appearances in Atlantis Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 6 October 2021 on the mentioned charges.
