Stock Theft Unit Sergeant laid to rest in Mthatha

SAPS members and family converged at KwaLindile Location in Mthatha on Saturday, 29 January 2022 as they paid last respect to the late Sergeant Mthandeni David Skomela who was attached to the Stock Theft Unit in Mthatha, OR Tambo District. The late hero was gunned down by ruthless criminals recently at his home.

The late Sergeant, who joined the service in January 2005, was described as a humble, disciplined and dedicated member of the service, who was always eager to take an extra mile in performing his official duties.

Provincial Commander of the Stock Theft Unit, Colonel Siphelo Jaggers expressed concern about how the community value members of the South African Police Service, who take risks in ensuring safety and security of members of the community. He further described death of one member of the service as a blow as it hinders service delivery.

Colonel Jaggers thanked the Skomela family for allowing the late hero to form part of the South African Police Service, where he worked diligently to protect all citizens.
