GQEBERHA – Dedication and commitment portrayed by detectives from the South African Police Service in Motherwell ensured through proficient investigations that a murder accused was sentenced effectively to 15 years imprisonment. According to testimony given during the trial, the 23-year-old female and her 45-year-old boyfriend had an argument during February 2021 at their residence in Twebane Street Motherwell. The 23-year-old accused stabbed her boyfriend, Christopher Cengani, several times and he was admitted to a local hospital in a serious condition and passed away soon afterwards. The female, was tracked and traced by a team of seasoned investigators, after she went in hiding at a nearby residence.
On Friday, 5 November 2021, Sisanda Ngam was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Motherwell magistrate’s court on a charge of murder. Motherwell Station Commander, Brigadier Michael Solani, commended the members for the effective and proficient manner in which the team performed their investigations. Experienced detectives presented a water tight case before the court which led to the accused being successfully convicted. “This conviction and lengthy sentence meted out by our courts are as a result of thorough investigations done by our detectives, who gathered all relevant evidence to successfully identify and link the offender to the crime”.
