We asked the City’s Executive Director for Energy and Climate Change, Kadri Nassiep, how the City manages Eskom’s Stage 4 load-shedding, at short notice.

Questions:

  1. When does Eskom update the City on load-shedding or changes?
  2. What happens after load-shedding is announced by Eskom?
  3. How does the City actually implement load-shedding?

Please note: Blackouts typically cause power faults and increased service requests.

The City thanks customers for their understanding.

Keep devices charged.

Treat traffic lights that are out due to load-shedding as four-way stops. First to stop may proceed if it is safe to do so

Service requests

Let us know if your power stays off for longer than the load-shedding schedule.

Service requests typically increase during load-shedding.
