South African Education Department Dismisses False Exam Paper Leak Claims

JOHANNESBURG – The South African Department of Basic Education has issued a warning against false social media posts claiming that matric examination question papers have been leaked. In a recent statement, the department assured the public, students, and their families that the examinations are proceeding smoothly without any significant issues.

According to South African Government News Agency, the posts circulating on social media are fake, misleading, and designed to create unnecessary confusion and panic. The department emphasized that there have been no incidents of examination paper leaks, nor has there been any announcement about the need to rewrite any papers. The Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, has not made any statements regarding such incidents, and the department categorically denied these claims as unfounded and malicious.

The department confirmed that the third week of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams has concluded successfully. Since the start of the examinations, there have been no reported serious irregularities, indicating the effectiveness of the security measures in place. Out of the 231 question papers, 136 have already been administered, marking the halfway point of the 28-day examination period.

The Department of Basic Education expressed gratitude to all individuals involved in conducting the examinations. It also encouraged learners to remain focused and diligent in their studies during this critical examination period, advising them not to be swayed by distractions stemming from these false claims.
