Social Welfare Minister Mediates Supreme Islamic Council Leadership Dispute

The Minister of Social Welfare, Madam Melrose A. T. Karminty, held a crucial meeting today with the Supreme Islamic Council to address an ongoing leadership dispute following the death of their leader, Alhaji Taa. The meeting took place at the Ministry’s Conference Room.

During her opening remarks, Minister Karminty acknowledged the challenges within the Council and emphasized the importance of a consultative process in resolving the leadership issue. She advised the Council to dissolve the current leadership and initiate fresh nominations, stressing that changes should be guided by a renewed and widely consulted constitution.

Alhaji Ibrahim Shake Barrie, the newly appointed Acting Secretary-General of the Islamic Council, expressed appreciation for the Minister’s transparent approach to resolving the conflict. Other council members also commended Minister Karminty for effectively handling the situation and called for her continued guidance to maintain peace within the Council.

The meeting marks a signifi
cant step towards resolving the Supreme Islamic Council’s leadership struggle and ensuring stability within the organization.
