Day 3 of the Sobriety Week Campaign continued today, 16 September 2021 in Postmasburg.
The activities commenced with a briefing session attended by the Deputy Provincial Commissioner: Corporate Services, Maj Gen Henriette de Waal, the Tsantsabane Local Mayor, Ms Mashila, the ZF Mgcawu District Commander, Brig Johnny Besnaar, the District and local CPF Chairpersons and the CEO of the Northern Cape Liquor Board, Ms Thandi Modibela.
Maj Gen de Waal addressed the parade at the Postmasburg police station comprising of members from Postmasburg SAPS, Stock Theft unit, FCS, Provincial Corporate Communications, Provincial FLASH, ZF Mgcawu District Vispol and other external roleplayers.
Messages of support were also delivered by the Mayor, the CPF and the CEO of the Liquor Board.
General de Waal emphasized police safety and adherence to COVID 19 protocols by our members. Sgt Karlien Nel, the Designated Police official at Postmasburg SAPS was commended for the initiative that was taken in planning the Sobriety Week.
After the parade the group also inclusive of the Department of Home Affairs, the Liquor Board and the Gambling Board conducted compliance inspections at liquor outlets and businesses in the city centre, Postdene, Boichoko and Newtown.
Disruptive actions will continue until the end of the week that will conclude with a fun run on 18 September 2021.
