SLENA Celebrates Deputy Speaker’s Commendation of Veteran Correspondent

The Sierra Leone News Agency (SLENA) is pleased to announce that its esteemed Port Loko District Correspondent, Hassan Bruz, has been commended by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Hon. Tawer Conteh, for his exemplary service in journalism.

The recognition came during a Public Accounts Committee hearing at the Port Loko District Council Conference Hall on Monday. The Public Accounts Committee, responsible for overseeing government expenditure and promoting transparency, was led by Hon. Conteh in a standing ovation for the veteran journalist.

Hassan Bruz, a steadfast figure in journalism particularly in the Northern region, was lauded for his significant contributions to promoting accountability and transparency through his reporting. His investigative pieces on local government spending and his in-depth coverage of community development projects were particularly highlighted. The Deputy Speaker praised Bruz’s meticulous approach to news coverage, describing his
work as a model for younger journalists.

“The pattern in which Hassan Bruz complies and reports his news materials in this part of the country is very impressive and worthy of emulation by younger practitioners in the field of journalism,” said Hon. Tawer Conteh.
