A Face-to-Face Tripartite Workshop on Developing Effective and Efficient Labour Market Programmes and Services to Support Transitions, organized by the African Regional Labour Administration Centre (ARLAC), is currently underway in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The training workshop, running from 5th-9th August, gathers key stakeholders from across Africa to discuss and develop strategies aimed at enhancing labour market systems on the continent.
The primary objectives of the workshop include equipping participants with practical knowledge and skills necessary for implementing labour market policies that respond to the dynamic economic environment in Africa. By focusing on training and transitions, the workshop aims to improve job security, increase employability, and ensure smoother transitions for workers across various sectors.
Representing Sierra Leone at the workshop are Mr. Ahmed Borbor Brima, Deputy Director of Occupational Safety and Health at the Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security, and Mr. Emm
anuel Pratt, Vice President of the Sierra Leone Labour Congress. Their participation underscores Sierra Leone’s commitment to strengthening its labour market and improving services that support transitions to formality.
The outcomes of this workshop are expected to include a set of actionable recommendations and best practices for implementation across participating countries. For Sierra Leone, the insights gained by Brima and Pratt will significantly contribute to ongoing efforts to enhance occupational safety, health, social security, productivity, and overall labour market management; ultimately promoting sustainable economic growth.
