Shop employee arrested for alleged theft of money

A 36-year-old woman from Okauva village in the Ohangwena Region was arrested after she reportedly stole N.dollars 26 000 from her employer.

According to the region’s Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Titus Ekandjo on Monday, the incident occurred around 22h00 on Saturday at a shop at Ontana village in the region’s Okankolo Constituency.

It is alleged that the woman stole N.dollars 26 000 from the shop safe and burned papers in the safe under the pretext that the money was burned as well.

The 22-year-old suspect, the only employee of the shop, resides in Okauva village in the Ohangwena Region.

Ekandjo said N.dollars 7 000 of the stolen amount was recovered and the suspect was set to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Police investigations continue.
