KIMBERLEY – The Acting District Commissioner of the Pixley Ka Seme District, Brigadier Nomana Adonis commended the operational members across the Pixley Ka Seme District for their relentless efforts in curbing crimes throughout the District.
Several suspects are expected to appear in various courts across the Pixley Ka Seme District on numerous counts ranging from stock theft, dealing in drugs and dealing in illicit cigarettes. The suspects were apprehended over the weekend following intensified high police visibility in Douglas, Carnarvon and Vanwyksvlei.
The members of De Aar Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit acted tactically, following a complaint of stock theft in Vanwyksvlei and put three suspects behind bars on a count of stock theft.
During Operation Vhuthu Hawe, compliance inspections were conducted at several tuckshops in Carnarvon.
A total of four tuckshop owners were found in possession of contraband cigarettes and were charged for dealing in illicit cigarettes.
Six suspects are facing charges of dealing in dagga and drugs, following their arrests in Breipal in Douglas. The arrest of the six came after members received a tip-off regarding drug dealing activities at two separate residences. The suspects were found in possession of mandrax tablets, dagga weighing 22,2Kg including cash believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.
Members continued with stop and searches during which dangerous weapons were confiscated.
Fifteen persons were arrested and charged for riotous behaviour and drinking in public. All arrested suspects are expected to appear in Vanwyksvlei, Carnarvon and Douglas Magistrate’s Courts soon respectively.
