GQEBERHA – Police have launched a search for the suspects involved in the murder of a 22-year-old security officer who was fatally wounded following a shootout this morning 22 September 2022 in Kwanobuhle.

It is alleged that at about 09:00, two security officers were busy escorting a bread truck towards Gqabi Street, when they were approached by two unknown men. One of the men drew a firearm and started shooting at them. A security officer returned fire and was fatally injured during the cross fire. The suspect also disarmed the security officer and fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.

A case of murder and robbery aggravated will be investigated by the Provincial Organized Crime Investigation Unit.

The name of the deceased will be released once formal identification is completed.
