MACLEAR - A successful combined operation between the Elliot K9 and Barkly East Mounted Unit led to the recovery of a stolen firearm in Maclear.

It is alleged that on Sunday, 28 August 2022 at about 14:00, Elliot K9 Unit operational members and Barkly East Mounted Unit received information of a firearm that was robbed from a security guard that was on duty last night.

The members swiftly followed up on the information, which led to the recovery of firearm at Ngcele admin area, Maclear. The firearm was found on the 23-year-old suspect who was arrested.

He was charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. The 9mm pistol with ammunition was confiscated.

The Acting District Commissioner, Brig Asogran Naidoo commended the units on the swift reaction in recovering the firearm.
