According to Thai News Agency, the authorities concluded their search after the vehicle, a 2013 Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck with the license plate number Gong 2474 Narathiwat, was discovered incinerated by unidentified individuals. On August 22, 2026, at approximately 8:00 PM, the Bongor Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Raengae District, Narathiwat Province, was targeted by unknown assailants who set fire to the premises and stole the government truck.

The Forward Command of the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 (ISOC Region 4) reported receiving information at 10:00 PM that the perpetrators had set the vehicle ablaze. Consequently, authorities decided to halt the search based on this intelligence. Officials are now focused on inspecting the scene and collecting the necessary evidence to proceed with legal actions.
