The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources has reported that recent sea accidents have claimed the life of one person and left several others in critical condition in the coastal communities of Sulima, Begbeghun, Delken, and Mania in Pujehun and Bonthe Districts.
The accidents occurred when fishermen were caught in a heavy storm at sea, leading to the tragic incidents. A joint search and rescue operation is underway, coordinated by the Ministry in collaboration with the Maritime Administration and other partners.
In addition, the Ministry has received unconfirmed reports of the sudden deaths of two fishermen from York Village in the Western Rural District. These reports are under investigation.
