SAPS Task Team arrests four suspects for kidnapping and extortion in Langa

WESTERN CAPE – The commitment of members of the Special Task Force, Organised Crime investigators and Crime Intelligence resulted in the arrest of suspects following the kidnapping of a 31-year-old male on Tuesday 03 May 2022.

Unknown suspects entered a business premises on Tuesday 03 May 2022 at around 17:30 in McClaren Drive in Du Noon, kidnapped a 31-year-old male and fled the scene in a Toyota Quantum in an undisclosed direction. The suspects contacted the relatives demanding a ransom in exchange for the victim’s freedom. The investigating team pursued all information at their disposal in a bid to locate the victim. On Wednesday 04 May 2022 the team descended on a residence in Winnie Mandela Road in N2 Gateway, Langa, where they found the victim in the bedroom. Four suspects between the ages of 22 and 26 were arrested and detained.

Once charged, the suspects are expected to make a court appearance in The Cape Town Magistrate court on charges of kidnapping and extortion. The Provincial Commissioner of The Western Cape, Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile lauded the efforts and commitment of the investigators.
