WESTERN CAPE – During an integrated SAPS operation comprising of various units, the operation of a chop shop was brought to a halt and the perpetrator arrested.
On Monday morning, 23 May 2022 at approximately 08:00, SAPS members conducted an operation at a chop shop in Wallacedene, Kraaifontein after police kept observation on the premises over a period of time, monitoring suspicious activities. Four vehicles that were reported stolen in different policing areas were recovered and seized as well as several car parts and equipment. The estimated value of the recovered vehicles and parts are R4 million.
A 48-year-old male was arrested for the possession of stolen vehicles, and will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 25 May 2022 on the mentioned charges. The possibility of more arrests is not ruled out
