SAPS Seshego safer school crime awareness and search operation yield success

On Tuesday, 10 September 2024, the police in Seshego collaborated with various security enforcers, including the Limpopo Chaplaincy, CPF, YCOP, Community Safety, Polokwane Municipality, and CSF, to address drug usage within school parameters.

Following reports that remote schools were experiencing issues with drug usage, a joint initiative was launched to visit three schools within Seshego policing precinct. The schools visited were:

1. Mochonono Secondary School in Ga-kobo village, Moletji

2. Moshobaba Secondary School, which serves Chokoe and Mashobohleng villages

3. Mamolemane Secondary School in Ga-adamantane village

During the operation, learners were found in possession of contraband items, including:

– Cigarettes

– Cellphones

– Sharp objects

Furthermore, sachets of dagga were found abandoned on the premises.

The learners were addressed on the dangers of these behaviours and criminal activities, with a focus on the risks of drug usage and substance dependence, which can lead to mental illness

The search operation was made possible with the assistance of private K9 Security company Dikwena Tsamolao Security.

Colonel Moraka, Head of Visible Policing commended the efforts of Operation Commander Captain Mpyana and Social Crime Prevention Coordinator Sergeant MS Maluleke for their excellent work in leading this initiative.
