The Acting District Commissioner of SAPS Sekhukhune Brigadier RR Maluleke led a crime awareness campaign coupled with a prayer against road fatalities on Thursday, 17 March 2022.
The three sessions programme was coordinated by SAPS Burgersfort EHW Spiritual Services in conjunction with Pastors Against Crime and Makhuduthamaga Municipality.
The first session was a prayer for the station and members, followed by a march and prayer against road fatalities. The last leg was a crime awareness campaign at Queen Chester sports ground.
The Acting District Commissioner addressed the community and encouraged partnership in the fight against crime including gender based violence and domestic violence. He further addressed corruption and urged the community to refrain from bribing police.
The Mayor of Makhuduthamaga Municipality Hon Cllr Minor Bahula appreciated the partnership.
The event was also attended by traditional leaders, Provincial Chairperson of CSF Mr Kgorutle, Sekhukhune taxi association Chairperson, CPF, VEP and members of the community. The SAPS Provincial band kept the attendees on their toes with music and the event was broadcasted live on Sekhukhune FM.
