The SAPS Sekhukhune district EHW Spiritual Services together with Women’s Network and Men for Change on Sunday 05 December 2021, held a GBV awareness campaign coupled with a prayer session for police safety at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Longtill village, Burgersfort area.
Amongst the attendees, were SAPS members from different stations in the district, pastors against crime, VEP, CPF and members of the community Sekhukhune district CPF treasurer, Mrs Makuwa and Mampuru VEP Chairperson Mr Mathunyane gave messages of support. The district management was represented by Vispol coordinator Colonel Thiba, who also rendered a keynote address. He called on community members to work jointly with the police to curb violence against women and children, while at the same time, praying for the police to win the battle against crime.
Warrant Officer (Chaplain) Letsoalo together with other pastors took turns praying for the safety of SAPS members and management, crime reduction and acceptance of police by the community respectively.
All prayers were conducted by Warrant Officer (Chaplain) Ramatshego, the district Women’s Network champion who also led a congregational prayer. Meanwhile, Men for Change champion Sergeant Mphahlele took the lead in a pledge against GBV, followed by all the men present.
